Atlanta's Cutlery Texas Bowie Knife review
by

'Bout f*n time I do a blade review. Let's roll.
Introduction
I bought this knife because it has a big bowie blade and bowie blades are the single best damn thing in the world. I got this knife at the same time I bought my Smatchet, many months ago, from Kult of Athena. Top notch serve, prices and shipping, as always.
Here are a few numbers, taken from KOA's website ;
Overall Length: 19'' Blade: 13 3/4''
Weight: 1 lb 9.2 oz
Edge: Sharp
P.O.B.: 1 5/8''
Thickness: 4.3 mm - 3.2 mm
Width: 49.7 mm - 57.7 mm
Grip Length: 4 mm
Pommel: Threaded
Fittings
As you can see from the numbers and some of the pictures I just shown you, that's a knife. And by that, I mean it is made for ''that's not a 'noife, that's a 'noife'' jokes. The blade is quite large. It looks more like a short, stout sword than a knife's blade. Funny thing is that its shape reminds me of those good old Messers from medieval Germany, although the clipped point clearly shows this is a bowie-style knife.
The blade seems quite sturdy. I cut multiple water bottles with it and it took no damage. The water left a few small blemishes, most because I didn't do a complete, proper blade cleaning after my last cutting session. The edge can cut paper with some effort and is very functionnal for backyard cutting.
The handle is made of made of bone. It felt a bit slippery at first but never failed me during dry handlign and cutting. Althought the grip is round and the bone feels slick, it offered me a strong, secure grip during my backyard cutting sessions. The other fittings of the handle seem to be made of stainless steel. All are still tight and don't move at all, even after multiple backyard cuts.
The knife comes with black leather sheath. The sheath has a belt loop. The blade doesn't fit very tightly in it, it will fall if held upside-down. Although not the best sheath around, it is still a decent-looking and minimally-functionnal one for a sub-100 $ knife.
Handling
This blade feels great in hand. It feels light and is easy to handle, yet also feels strong in the cut. This gives the knife a rather pleasant handling, one that feels like the knife is a true weapon ; made to strike fast and hard.
I was able to use this knife during a long backyard cutting session with two fellow forumnites and the results were quite pleasing. The blade never missed a cut, always cleanly chopping or cutting through our water bottles.
True Happiness.
Conclusion
I am quite happy to have this knife. It looks great and feels good in hand. Plus, it performs well as a small backyard beater. I think this a great blade for collectors and casual backyard cutters.
Pros
-Robust, good-looking fittings
-It's a bowie knife
-Quick and autorative cutting
Cons
-Meh sheath
-...Dunno
I have no idea what I can say against this blade. It offers many good qualities for a small price (less than 100$). This blade is so cool that it has been approved by my two cats ;
Thanks for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it. Any comments are welcome.
BTW if I don't get any karma for this review, I will donate one of my cats to the closest fast-food stand. Please don't don't give me karma :evil:
