So I bought this plain 1060 blade. Problem was it had a smaller nakago. 7.5 in. After asking you guys here about it and researching how to make one, I headed to ebay. I found an undressed oak tsuka from JW HOT STEEL. They had 10, 11, and 12in ones. I asked if they had any smaller like a 9in. They said no but they would make me a custom one if I sent the measurements. I was like ok lets give it a shot. They even posted a 9in tsuka on ebay with my exact measurements so no one else would buy it. I thought that was awesome of them. After I emailed the measurements, Jian ( I think its a female) asked if I would like it dressed. They would make it any way I wanted it. So I picked black same, black cotton ito, a battle wrap, with black top and bottom and no menuki. Jian said it would be made and mailed in 2 days. Mailed on Jan 3 and I got it today the 17th. Really quick !
The cotton ito is wrapped super tight and the plain black fittings look really nice and stealth with no menuki. Went to mount it and it slid right on, perfect fit ! No play at all anywhere. Just perfect for not having blade in hand for the measurements. They really did a super job and went way outta their way just to please a lil old biker dude from across the seas and all on ebay. The whole thing cost me 56 bucks for an oak custom made tsuka. Can't beat that. I highly recommend their plain oak, and custom dressed tsuksas. Their custom work is fantastic (for tsukas), and their customer service superb. Thanks Jian! ! They went way above and beyond any ebay seller. Here are some pics. The 9in doesn't look bad next to an 11in in the pic. And it feels good in hand also. Please forgive any typos, using a phone to do this. Hope this review is found helpful to someone. :-)
