One word BARGAIN!! I payed $150 aust for this sword and thats with postage from ebay seller katana1980. Nothing loose, scabberd fits nice and tight, and also comes sharpened! along with a back up knife in the scabberd thats very sharp aswell. The sword is stainless steel and wrapped in tight faux leather. I personaly think that this is one of the best replicas u can buy. with other companys price tag of about $180 and up ,(and also dont forget they come blunt and dont come with the scabberd) this sword is truely a great buy and im never tired of holding it. I bought this sword 6 months ago and its in as good shape as when it first arrived. You may not be able to cut bamboo with it but atleast its still sharp enough to impress a few people.IMG_1082.JPGIMG_1078.JPGIMG_1081.JPGIMG_1080.JPG

Yeah.. For about $150 more I could nab a DSA version that isn't stainless... I'm a lotr fan too, but if I'm going to buy a wallhanger i'll buy the licensed one I suppose. Or save money and buy a functional one. But glad you enjoy your purchase man, that's the big part.

Since it's not a cutter, if I were you I might take a hone and run it over the edge a few times, perpendicular to the blade, and take it down a bit to where it won't break the skin if some fool decides to play with your sword. I don't really see the need to have a display item be sharp unless it's functional. Other than that, as has been said, if you enjoy your purchase, that's all that really matters...

Congradulations, it reads like you really enjoy it. That feeling of excitement when you first hold a sword is hard to beat. Later on you can branch out to functional, for now that sword is instantly recognizable. I agree with elheru, you may want to blunt it. I've heard far to many horror stories about wall hangers "reaching out to touch some one."

im not a fan of wallhangers that cant also cut, HOWEVER, you were looking for a display sword, you know its non functional, and your happy with what you recieved, it actually is a pretty nice looking piece. So congrats on the good buy! Theres nothing wrong with bvuying a SLO as long as you know and treat it as such.

For a costuming project, i've tossed this to a friend doing up a Dunedain/aragorn ranger outfit.. Given conventions and ren-faires require piece bonding, swords used just as a companion for an outfit dont need to be horribly functional.
