Yeah... I also just got a curt PM from Mark McMorrow at SFI ... demanding I stop using sizing and colors... he also edited them out of my review there.
As a result I will now bow out of SFI... and I have staunchly defended it for years. So be it.
As far as thumbnails... I detest them. Thats just me... but they mess up the flow of the review to me...
I guess I'm spoiled by my internet connection.

As knowledgeable as Glen is, he can be so insufferably arrogant that it's hard to get passed his personality to listen to his wisdom. If all reviews were cookie cutter, they would soon loose all sense of personality and opinion. "Fill in the blanks on the form and keep it dry please". I don't know how many here remember my little battle with Glen but this attitude is what it was about.......his lack of tolerance and over the top opinion of himself.
SFI......yeah right.....SOS!
As always, you're cool in my book Marc. We appreciate a sense of humor around these parts.

A lot of us may have a wildly differing outlook than Glen, but I'd not like to see this turn into a roasting of him. As overbearing as he can be (can't we all, though?), he does care deeply about the communities he partakes in, and he is very knowledgeable. This is a wonderful review and I'd hate to see it degrade into disrespecting a man who is no longer a part of our community. Like I said, Marc, wonderful review, and the cutting wasn't too shabby either. Especially liked the stacked bottle cut. I agree with you about Albion, the Knight wasn't really the sword for me, but it was every bit worth the price and you only really understand that once you get your hands on one. I took a bit of a loss on selling it, but it was every bit worth the experience.

Nice review once again Marc. I am starting to warm up to that blade type.

Great review, Marc! Love that sword. And it was very nice of you to post the cutting vid without music, too!! I was just thinking "damn now I need to bug him again so I can see it too" and then voila, there it was Yeah, the little grinding mistakes. They were present on every Albion I've seen so far but I'm kinda glad for them as they disrupt the impression of having a machine perfect blade. Hand made items should have SOME minor flaws.

Its just what I do.... a trademark if you will.... or even if you won't Cold steel against a warm bright blossom, the duality and Zenlike balance of it speaks to my soul... Yes, corny i know, but true....

Yes, Marc has absorbed the Orientalist metaphysics that comes with study of Eastern martial arts. Swords are of the earth and are made of the powerful, consuming element of fire. To harmonize this force and maintain equipoise one considers nature and the spiritual uplifting grace of shubbery n stuff  ( Of light and water ). Poor me on the other hand follows Plato and Aristotle.... so I just make charts.

Hey, wait a minit.. where are you supposed to put the off-hand on such a diminutive grip? And why the blade is so short? Bottles? BOTTLES? PIG LEGS are better! Eh no, dear Marc.. either you got a defective gnome two-hander or you need to get an Hanwei Lowlander right away to compensate such a wild outburst of estrogens..

Marc,
Thanks for the great review. The Squire is the one Albion I have my eye on and I value your opinion on it. Of course the photos and write up are the best, as always!

Call me concieted ... but I am bumping this one to the top baby!!!
See sometimes being a moderator sucks all the joy out of the forum for you... its one thing after another , unhappy people dissing you for doing your job at every opportunity etc. and you end up forgetting why you are here in the first place.
Why am I here?
Well , because as Gus Trim once so eloquently put it ... swords are fun!!
So we, the staff are working on the review index... well really Bill is working on it... and he dug up this review... I clicked the link and reading the thread had something its been a while since I had here... fun.
Yeah the thread takes a downturn on page three when I start sempriniing about a critic... but otherwise , I had a good time reading it. Sean and Dave et al make me chuckle...
So ... bumpers...
hope someone who missed the review sees it.

Thanks for the bump. This is a sword I've been looking to get in the future. Love the antique fittings, which I prefer. Do all their swords come sharpened? Or is there an option? I prefer unsharpened, keeps things a little safer around the house.

From source you get the choice of sharp or butterknife sharp (very close to blunt). Sometimes they have both in stock. Most previously owned Albions are sold sharp as well. Fortunately they come properly sharpened and not like a Gillette shaving razor. I'm no fan of the "sharper is better" model.
Thanks for the review Marc. I really enjoyed it. I never used to like the antique fittings but after landing a Mercenary with them fitted they definitely grew on me. The Squire is a corker. Everything a knightly sword wants and more. Maybe it's time to enjoy the forums again and get back to swords, assuming people will let you.

Thanks for bumping this review, that's a beauty of a sword. The antiqued finish looks spectacular and I bet that grip feels great in the hand.
One question though. Pardon my igorance, but being relatively new to the sword community I have to ask. What is the significance of photographing a sword with a flower? I've seen that a few times and keep meaaning to ask.

Good call bumping this review, Marc, it's a great one. My Albion Squire is my favorite single-hander I've encountered, and you've clearly shown all the reasons why.
