So I bought a Vakra from ZT a while ago, and it just got here. I'm planning on doing a review, btw. Anyways, It came with a kydex sheath. After unsheathing it and re-sheathing it a few times (maybe 3) I noticed it had scratched some of the finish off of the blade. Since this blade is meant to look kind of rough, it didn't bother me too much. But I would like to know how I would go about fixing this. I'm very hesitant to put the blade back in the sheath.
I have very little experience with kydex sheaths. I prefer leather over plastic most of the time, but I really don't want to make a new sheath. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

That's the thing about kydex, if you get anything abrasive inside, it becomes sort of like sandpaper. I have this problem with firearm finishes all the time. One thing to try is to pressure wash out the scabbard. You never know what may have gotten into it.
Take the scabbard into the shower and spray the inside out well with warm water. "Sling" as much water out as you can, then let it air dry before putting your well oiled sword back into the scabbard. If you're successful, that scratching sound will go away and it will mostly stop scratching your blade.

Thanks for the reply Mike. But alas, after doing everything you said I peered into the sheath with a flashlight, and discovered what look to be bumps on the kydex itself. I might just take the thing apart and sand it down, maybe learn how to make a new one...

molding kydex is easy. but setting rivets are even easier. I assume the sheath is held together with rivets? pop them out, sand the inside with some nice 3m wetdry put it back together.

I thought about that, but I worry about the risk of screwing it up. I'll post a pic in a few.

Here's the sheath. Back side. Sorry for the low quality pic. And here's the nasty scratch. If the knife wasn't supposed to look like a post-apocalyptic weapon out of the shop, I'd be much more pissed.

its actually very easy. you can get new rivets from numerous places. and setting them usually involves a hammer and a small metal punch thing
