Ok, I just bought a H/T bastard sword with fuller from KOA, the service was great, and I managed with some help to bring it here to Ecuador were my collection is. When I started to train some cutting and techniques I found out that I had to screw the pommel very often the first times and then just time to time. So I found out that each time I screw on the pommel more an more the wood of the grip was compressing and the grip was gettint a bit shorter, so I not just found a solution to that but also a way to make the tang stronger. In the next pictures, the blue lines represent the sword, the red lines the screw, the black the pommel and the grey ones the inside of the pommel. (sorry about the darwings, but I have just a little free tiem on my job ) Now, here are how it looks at first: Now, after I fixed: So now the pommel rest on the tang of the sword before it is threated so the result will be a better and stronger blade as well as a peened pommel, but, the only problem is that the grip woul be 1cm shorter so, I willl have to cut the grip or make a new one. Hope You like ir, I will put pictures When I finish the proyect. Attachments:

Saito is right, the swords are designed so that the pommel rests on the blade normally. If your doesn't, then it is a defect. Given where you live, it may be less of a hassle to just do it yourself, however. I'd like to see some pictures of the sword now, so I don't feel like we're giving you ill advice, but I understand if that's not feasible.
