So... I've been looking a replica of this exact sword for a while. www.stanleylondon.com/swordfrartillery.htmThis replica is very accurate, as well as relatively cheap. I just don't know if Stanley London makes functional swords. They're advertised as "high carbon steel" but that's about it. Can't tell for sure, as the pictures don't show the bottom of the hilt very well but it doesn't look as if their swords have any peen, just more shiny brass. Any one dealt with them before?

I've never heard of them before, but, after looking through their stuff, I'm rather glad I haven't. Just my two cents on the matter, but most of their stuff looks like cheap junk being advertised as functional to me.

Hmm. Replicas of these and even originals don't seem to be in demand so it seems unlikely that someone would make an accurate, but nonfunctional, replica. I've been looking for one of these forever, and this one is spot on as far as length, weight, details on scabbard and hilt. Still, shot them an email; trying not to get my hopes up. I'll post it here if they get back to me about the grade of steel, hilt construction etc.

I can't weigh in on their swords, but I've purchased one of their telescopes, and it is not only extremely beautiful, but also entirely functional (something I was worried about going in.) I would be very surprised if their swords were shoddy quality based off my experience, even if they are not functional. By the by, their customer service was very pleasant to deal with, so I would be surprised if they aren't able to answer your questions. Just my $0.02, though.

Got a quick reply: "Thank you for contacting us. Our swords are antique reproductions. They are made from high carbon tempered steel, full tang. Most customers use for display, rather than sword fighting. All our swords are very popular for historical reenactments." Still a little vague, I guess I'll take the plunge on my birthday or some other time. I can't imagine that they'd be that horrible, and if I decide that it's not functional I can return it.
