Are there any reviews extant for the historical swords made by www.chevalierdauvergne.com/ ? Some of there stuff looks really nice, but considering the prices, I wouldn't want to risk it without hearing a bit about their products first.

Several of us here have talked about taking the plunge, but I don't know anyone ever actually having done so. I was sorely tempted to take a whack at the $1000.00 Grenadier a Cheval that they insist on doing by wire transfer. Just couldn't bring myself to making the outlay without a better understanding of the historical weapon. 'course if you'd like to be the first into the minefield we'd all be ever so grateful...

Well, if fronted the $ 820 for their Chasseur à cheval sabre, I would be happy to I had heard some rumblings once on SFI that they are connected to a company which makes modern fencing equipment, which might at least give a hint at how their quality control, overall outlook is.

Don't their tangs look a bit thin and rat-tailish, though? Check out their bare blade section. Granted, that doesn't mean they are unsafe, but they definitely could be sturdier.

Judging by the photos they look like thin threaded rods welded to stub tangs. Personally, I wouldn't trust their structural integrity without a much closer look, at the very least.
