Hello all, New to forums, Long time collector/ Mainly medieval european blades/ , I Need some Opinions about dsa's katana mid-range/ elite versions line of Akio Hattori katanas. To explain myself i am NEW to the katana area, the only knowledge i have of them is ronin pro series which i have only used in my local dojo studio, so this is my first personal katana purchase Ever ! ( *note i missed out on batch #18 of SBG's) chaulked up to xmas shopping for family,
i understand the obvious at DSA's site, mid range ( $400) made by selected smith's,1095 and the elite grade ( $600, which is about my max $for my first katana) forged by Akio himself using Tamahagane is it worth it? I was under the impression the forged blade with Tamahagane carries alot higher of a price tag) . Im looking for an overall well made cutter for tatami/ bottle wars. That is eye pleasing, heavier blade no bo hi / clay DH tempered is my preference, This line appears to a worker, and fairly traditional to me. That is eye pleasing, Seems like a well flooded market of katana's Anyone with current information on the newer production lines, ive researched lots of vid's, and searched topics about DSA's line on these but all ive found is older posts when they were just adding them to their line. So experience first hand, or advice is all welcomed Handleing/ Fit/ use-age/ overall design ,if you have any knowledge or opinions id Sure love to hear em before i go ahead with the order. reason ive targeted DSA's line is I own a few of their swords and i love them more than gold. Open to any suggestions recommendations reguarding these. ( even if you have a different recommendation as well)
