Could open a free photobucket account and drop a few pics there. Easy html transfer from there to this board....

Yeah, Photobucket would be much easier. I dont tend to give out FB or email to random forumites. Sorry, but if you can get it up here i'm sure more than a few people will help you.

I've a suspicion I've seen a symbol like that before - some form of Mason's Mark ? Given that the cross and hilt seem to be cast on the blade ( Of brass/bronze??) could this be some sort of Masonic Lodge or Friendly Society regalia sword ??

Reminds me of Armory Marek's symbol but with a P.

At a guess, by the look of it, I'd say the symbol's a Chinese character and the sword a Chinese piece of tourist merchandise. Of course I can't actually read a single character of Chinese, so...

Good to see you back, MOK. Anyways, in that vein, it looks very similar to the Chinese hanzi "太"/"tai", meaning big or extreme. Problem is, as Pinotte said, it looks more like Armory Marek's maker's mark, but with a P instead of an M. I honestly have no idea where the sword might be from, but if I had to take a guess, perhaps a tourist piece from Africa with a European base; I say that because, while it's not something that screams unusual, there are little things about it that just seem really off to me and African swords are generally some of the weirdest looking things you'll ever see.

It's good to be back! Took a bit longer than I expected to get back online, I've been going barmy from withdrawal.

It looks like the word "大" (da) to me, which means big. The dots in "tai" are not on the symbol. lol maybe it means the sword was made by "Big P"?
As for the sword, yeah it looks like a tourist piece.
