Im new to all this but i am planning to buy my first sword soon and i was wondering if any 1 give me pro's and con's about the sword. The sword is a deluxe reverse blade sword from the anime ruroni kenshin at trueswords.com. I know theres gonna be alot of haters about ppl buying anime swords so i would like you to refrain from any stupid comments about that since iv heard oh so many idiotic comments. So if you can will you tell me about the pro's and cons and what it comes with and any special care it needs. www.trueswords.com/deluxe-revers ... -3098.html link Thankyou in advance.

You obviously don't know too much about SBG, my friend; we don't bash someone for their choice in swords. As to that piece itself, it's also available here (and slightly cheaper) at Kult of Athena, a much respected vendor with the cheapest prices on the 'net, though it is back orderd at the moment. Frankly, I don't believe anyone can give you detailed information on it here because I don't think anyone here owns it. But, for the most part, while you could hack with it, it'd be mostly for novelty, since doing noto with it (assuming you practice JSA) would be dangerous, the kissaki is, frankly, ugly as sin, and the fuller makes no real sense. That's just me, though. But, hey, if it strikes your fancy and you don't intend to do anything stupid with it, it's your money. Welcome to SBG, by the way.

Well it's something you want for a specific interest in the anime so that much is going for you. As far as the price it's not a deal but not a ripoff- it's what you'd expect because the sword is geared to a specific fan base. You can get an equivalent sword that is not reverse edged for about half the price- but of course that's not what you want this time around.
The fittings and stats lead me to believe it's a standard entry level sword- basically the lowest acceptable quality to serve as a functional sword. You may find the tsuka (handle) is epoxied to the tang, and if not you may likely find the tsuka cracked. Fittings are almost certainly zinc alloy- wrap and fittings might be loose but that can be easily fixed if you find it so.

One question to consider: What's your budget? For example: If it's under $100, there are some good choices at Trueswords.com that will work on a tight budget.

there's a chance this sword is from masahiro- they supply this grade of sword to a lot of places.

That's right! After a short time here, I saw no trollers and haters here. This is the friendliest sword forum you can find on the net. We don't hate here, we compliment if we can  . And my compliment is that anime swords, in my opinion, has a little more creativity and has a more unique look than an average katana, so good choice on the sword! They also have stories, too. (And I believe this sword means that the owner doesn't want to take anybody's life anymore, but still wants to protect themself {Because of the reverse blade?} Am I correct?) Plus, that sword's functional, I believe, so that meets the goal of being a real sword. Just be careful with the swings, the blade is reversed  .

chose the sword cause it reminded me of my fav show when i was little. I wanted to make sure it would b safe and that the blade wont fly off. i plane on getting a shirasaya or a masahiro golden dragon next.

Hmmm I say if you only want if for looks and some Bottle batting go for it. I dont see it being a good cutter at all. But i dont think you want it for just cutting so you should be good. But i would not buy it thinking it will cut good. IMO it will cut but no Good
