Ordered from the UK. It arrived this morning, exactly two weeks later. It sat in UK customs, awaiting clearance for almost a week, so no fault of KoA, there; lightning fast delivery on their part. It is exactly as I expected, nothing more, nothing less. And lovely and sharp, too. My sister thought that the hilt and pommel looked cheap and basic, though; but I explained to her that it is historically, pretty accurate, for the Roman foot soldier's sword was mass produced and purely functional. The best thing about this sword is the top quality steel and rock solid construction.

Nice one. I keep thinking about ordering from KoA, but have been put off by the possibility of hidden costs.... may i ask if customs charged a "Release Fee", or "Import Duty" or anything?

yes you will be charged an impot tax in my experience though its still cheaper than ordering from the uk,koa is right up there though and you can expect to pay around £20 import tax,if it's a katana or wakasashi make sure koa send the relevant papaerwork stating it's hand forged just to be sure (straight blades are safe, anything with a curve is dangerous and needs to be hand forgedridiculous i know

20 quid i can live with. And of course there's a lot of models available in the States that aren't easy to come by over here. I've fancied a Qama for ages, but nowhere over here seems to stock them.

Last time i ordered from the states I think it was the import VAT that got me, they charged me £80 for a £200 sword! Chances are that I will still buy from the US as they have a much bigger range of swords to choose from. In fact I bought my Windlass Pompeii from KOA, its a brilliant gladius and i'm in the process of making a new grip for it.

I have just ordered a windlass Gladius of Galba, from Kult of Athena, today. The first time i have ordered off them.My friend wanted a korambit and a couple of tomahawks which i've added to the order.I believe the gladius and tomahawks will be fine;i'm just concerned about the korambit as it's a curved blade. But you can buy them legally in the uk and there is nothing in the offensive weapons act 1988 which says they're illegal. As for import tax,i thought you had to pay VAT (20%) ?
