Does anyone here have or know (personally) anyone that has any of Scott's swords or had any experience whatsoever (pertaining to quality rather than just drooling) with his work? www.slobodianswords.com/index.html

Never heard of the guy.
I'll admit, I like the look of some of the work, so I e-mailed for prices.

His prices seem to be in line with the mid-line Bugei, Ted Tenold customs and according to his profile he studied under the late great Bob Engath "Big Ear".

never heard of him and frankly I don't put as much stock into his magazine awards as I would any award garnered through the variety of japanese blade competitions. I would also expect more info and pictures at those prices- he is looking forthe serious collector market if he wants those prices and should be giving the kind of spec details thses collectors would understand and care about. One pic per sword is just cheaping out on the website.

Couldn't agree more... that is if I were looking for a blade but, as for mounting more specifically his sayas he seems to be dead on; that's why I'm looking for someone with first hand knowledge that can give me some insight as opposed to taking his word as an unknown seller.

Just noticed my mistake, the cons of trying to read too many open pages at once. I meant to reference him for price point.

Although I've never handled a Slobodian Sword.
I think Scott's Work for Saya is very much praised by people in the High-end custom koshirae world If I can recall he mounts the Custom blades like that of Howard Clark, Rick Barett etc. etc. and does an amazingly good job at it. Although someone did say his tsuka-maki was a bit 'off' but his saya was awesome, The Interior was well cut and the finish was stunning.
