While I have been active on the forum for a couple of months now, I realise that I never took the time to say hello properly. This forum is the only reason that I enjoy the enlightened ownership of real swords rather than stainless steel SLO's, so thank you for that to begin with. Otherwise you can pretty much guess the rest, I am fascinated with mythology and history, and my tastes encompass all weaponry from the ancients to the present. While all swordplay appeals to me, my tastes have specialised in the Viking era and the High middle ages, and i currently own a couple of the Hanwei Tinker line, a 9th century Viking and a fullered bastard. I love them both. I would love to be able to recreate my own visions of swords, but am currently limited in that respect due to my university study in an urban area with no room for a forge, sanding belts, grinders, heat treating equipment and so on. expect to see some minor creations in the new year though. as I have a project blade waiting in the shed at home proper. Outside of swords and their creation I enjoy brewing my own beer and mead, woodworking, weightlifting, motorbikes, and generally being outside in hills and forests, not really a city person. Well, that's me in a nutshell, I'm sure that soon I will have something more interesting to offer the forums, but until then ill just say thank you to all the people who have already proved this the friendliest sword forum on the net. until later SBG,

Hey. I just did this over at UBC. I had been a member for several months but never really did much. Formally, it's nice to meet you formally.

Hello Wanderer, welcome to SBG ! Have a nice time here and feel free to chat around, there's good, fun people here On a side-note, I'm a big beer-geek, especially of british beer types ; pale ales, IPAs, stouts n porters and brown ales. What kind of beer do you brew ?

Thanks guys, good to be here. as for the brewing: dark ales and porters are my favourites, I'm very lucky to have the relatively small scale Glastonbury ales brewery nearby, and am soon to be enjoying the seasons last bottle of rum cask aged ale. . My brews run pretty strong, last one came near 8% or a bit more. the effect it has on some of my smaller friends can be amusing. thankfully I'm a big guy and can hold my liquor, or else I wouldn't be able to enjoy my own creation. Mead is a new thing I'm trying, currently a pear melomel is on the go, no idea how its going to turn out, hopefully good, I have failed to produce anything inedible so far!
