Why is it that all the artwork on tsuba's are upside down when mounted on the sword ?

So when you look at them while your wearing the sword on your side (blade side up) it is right side up... I had the same question a bit back and just figured it out recently... Kinda of a bummer I think, I like the crane tsuba but when your holding the sword it looks strange having it up side down... On what tsuba did you notice? Jim

JW, thats all i could think of myself. Yeah liked the couple of crane tsuba's out there but wanted the head at the top of the sword. When i went to Lohmans, and all the other sites i checked out, all of them were arranged with the art upright, after looking through so many i finally noticed the slot where the blade goes through was upside down, bummer...changed my mind about a couple i was looking at. I am now leaning toward the new wave tsuba from cas iberia for $59.00.
