Considering one of the biggest arguments against the quality of cheness produced swords is the state of the tsuka, particularly the tightness and evenness of the wrap, I think this picture does a good job to defend them. ![](http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/3659/30cee7.jpg) So, for the record, Compaints against cheness: Low quality tsuka core: Fixed Loose, Uneven ito: Fixed Not perfectly fitted Habaki: Important...? Debatable Imperfect kissaki geometry: Who gives a rats arse at this price point Non-oval feel to tsuka: Fixed Can anyone realistically fault them at this point?

Yup. My favorite japanese sword, ever! Especially with that new crane tsuba. Very aesthetically pleasing.
Another thing is that it's the perfect length for me. I actually should use a 2-4-0 blade according to my height, but the standard cheness katana has 28'' blade which is a bit short. Here at 30'' it's a bit too long, but then I'm also used to 48'' european longswords, so the length doesn't bug me. I also love the blue ito. I wish I had the moneys right now.

Sword looks killer, yeah the crane tsuba really sets it off. Yes i was very pleased with my Shura , quality was real good all around. Want to redo my tsuka with black leather and black same, want to change the tsuba but can't make up my mind yet.

I have no complaints with the Cheness line, just got a Tenchi and it is amazing and well made at that. No lose wrap or core all around and a very hefty and handsome piece of steel. I paid 250 for the Tenchi and would still be happy having spent 400. Got the Wind Dragon and paid 60, wouldn't have been any happier paying as little as 30, but will use it to hack at some targets until I feel that I won't kill the Tenchi.
Looking to get the 33" O-Katana next!!!! ;D

Their tsuka a getting better, my Shura is fit just as well as almost every production sword I have seen, the ito is kinda crappy, but you gotta save money somewhere.
One thing though, the difference between low and high quality cotton is amazing, if you handle a sword with a good wrap on it you might change your tune about the cheness ito, but like all pauls work, its functional if not necessarily pretty.

I'm actually pretty much a shinken virgin, if you catch my meaning. the only one's I've handled personally are some crappy wallhanger ones, a masahiro, a paul chen PK, and a Paul chen PPK.
Those cheness look great in the pics, though I'm sure as with most advertising, the actual product is probably not quite as pretty.

If you want to see what a wrap is supposed to be, check out www.roninswords.comBrian does the nicest and most affordable wraps that I have seen, I should be getting my shura back from him soon.

My Tenchi was better than the pictures, I think the Cheness line is the best bang for the $$ in terms of better quality in the right place and cutting costs where appropriate like the cast idols under the wrap... Adam if your close to the Bay Area in California i'll show you some Cheness swords, the Tenchi, 33" O and the Kaze, just let me know! JW

My Kaze JUST showed up at the office here, it is even nicer than the Tenchi, I am impressed with the latest batch from Cheness, they really have kicked it up a level.
Great work!
