John , I hope I didn't offend you ... As I said in the review , it is really only visible with the macro function.... And you did the right thing darkening the fittings ... They look awesome.

Yeah, the fittings need to be darkened like they are instead of bright steel. They match the Rayskin a lot better than bright ones would. Hell, the finish would smooth itself through usage over time, to a nice mellow anitiqued look.
For the price John, we can't semprini too hard about such trivialities. I for one would discount it upon purchase, and the revelation of the slight scuffing in the review deters me not one iota.
Marc, you shouldn't worry about offending anyone man, I would fully expect your review to go into the level of detail that would incude such irregularities., no matter how small. After all, it is an Odin, and finding negatives about it to present involves identifying issues that would come down to personal aesthetic tastes.

As I had mentioned to Marc earlier, the prototype sword was valued by John at around $1. 5k before addition of the rayskin. I promised a discounted "used product" price, which comes out at over 50% off retail. In light of the imperfections, I'll swallow the cost of the premium rayskin option myself. Cheers

Before this issue really gets any larger , let me reitierate... this is an amazing , incredible piece of work. In a review as positive as this one , on a sword as amazing as this, one must stretch in oreder to find something critical to say.... it is a measure of John's talent that there was nothing structural of desin oriented to comment on.
In the interest of providing an accurate , impartial review one must try to point out even the most minor thing, one as feedback, but two , becasue if you don't , other people may nmotice it and think you are either slanting the review , or maybe not think you know what you are talkingh about...
I didn't want anyone to get any idea that this was anything but an incredible sword... so I went out of my way to find ridiculously minor issue to mention.
People , please don't get the idea that this sword is anything but incredible.

In my post, I did not mean to imply that I would discount the sword or that its purchase price should be discounted because of the irregularity of the finish on the furniture.
My intent was to communicate that I would discount the slight irregularity as a non issue for me. Through use, oxidation, and repeated wiping with ye olde oily rag, the finsh would even out nicely I believe.
Or Johnny could get him a finer grade ScotchBrite pad, and we have nothing to banter about!!

I too like the "Antiqued" look of the fitting and would not expect them to be 100% uniform, a small mark or scuff here and there adds to the look of the sword and in no way detracts from it, where as if they were polished it would stand out more and then it probably would be a negative.

I prefer the darkened fittings... the ones on my Odin Xa are darkened as well and I really like it.

We are glad for the honest review, Marc. It's the polite critiques/criticisms we receive that make us better people/businesses in life, yeah? Even something minor is something that we can strive to improve.
And it's because Longship Armoury/Odinblades stand by these products 100% that we will always strive to address issues seriously by refund, discount, special upgrades like the rayskin wrap, etc.

I think it speaks volumes, that the only issue being debated is the grade of ScotchBrite used on the furniture.
It would appear that this prototype is firmly ensconced in the win category!

Agreed - this sword is a winner for the Longship Line.

Artelmis that is a very bold statement, now you have to post a picture at the very least.

I have a nice green burlwood scabbard to match my Verimus, so I dunno... mine is pretty damn awesome.

Been drooling over that since the pics went up on Yeshua's FB, the match to the colors/wood pattern is impressive.
