new here to swords. ill probably only be around a year or two, as with other hobbies besides bmx and computers. i will learn a lot, enjoy my stay and hopefully leave a little bright spot in this world.
im interested in learning polishing, tsuka maki, maybe delve into saya maki (just a guess) and the general antique culture around these swords.
i was learning some about these swords and decided to pick up a musashi. seemed to fit with what i wanted to learn. before it arrived a friend of a friend was showing me his older model cheness tenchi. i offered cash and he accepted. it had some rust on the blade and a fingerprint etched into the habaki. tsuba was loose. more fun stuff to play with. here it is after my first polish attempt. I did not get too crazy into trying to make it good, just wanted to get my feet wet.

yea, it alreadey looks so much better without that counter polished yakote and fake hamon.
The musashi arrived. after playing with the cheness i would have to agree with the sbg review. outside of the weight difference and the bo-hi sound it feels too similar to the more expensive brother for its price. even if the fittings look like they belong on a $10 sword.
I have not really searched yet, but any good info for polishing kissake (geometric and not) and hints to bring the hamon out during polishing.
