Hi I'm a new member to this forum although I've read the threads here for quite some time.
I've been planning on buying a sword for around 9 months now, and I was lucky enough to find sbg through the videos youtube. Well I've been reading alot about katanas and some general info about other swords, and I decided i wanted a katana. In the last few months I've been saving money to buy a katana and I've finally gotten enough together to buy one. I'm interested in both the Shura and the Kaze and I just don't know which one to pick. I'd be very glad if you could help me pick which one I should buy.
I'm buying a katana to have it as a decoration and to do some "backyard-cutting" as well as it's just very cool to own a functional katana. So I have some questions about these two swords, let's start with the Shura:
Exactly how sharp is this sword, I mean you've demonstrated how tough/resilient it is and how much of a beating it can take, but how sharp is it? i know it ain't anywhere near to do the "unsupported paper cut" can it cut paper if u hold the paper and slowly run the blade down through it?
As with the Kaze:
You've convinced me that the kaze is SHARP, so I don't really have much questions about its sharpness, but the resiliency on the other hand. How much can the Kaze take? How easy does the edge roll or chip? Can you cut small saplings (like 1-3") or soft tree branches without risk of damaging the blade? Exactly how far can you go without risking to damage the sword?
The only thing I own or ever owned that is even close to a sword is a 39" katana wall-hanger with a rat tail tang, I bought on my vacation to Hungary last summer, cost me like 25 bucks, well I guess you get what you pay for. I'd be happy for any help or advice I can get, I'd also like to apologize if My English is a little rusty though i think you can understand me. I don't speak much English since I live in Sweden.
