I've been looking at purchasing a sword for some time, but I'm having a hard time deciding which to get. Right now I'm deciding between an SBG Kuramono, a Ronin dojo pro, and looking at a custom from sinosword.com. Has anyone got any experience with these swords? Right now I haven't heard back from the proswords guys so the Kuramono might be out of the running since I kinda want to have some communication with the sellers before I commit. Price differences aren't a huge deal for me, but the sinoswords site doesn't have prices and I would like to know how much something is before buying it. I would like to keep it under $700, but if it does end up being more I can deal with it.
So to sum it up, Is the Kuramono worth waiting for? How good are the swords from sinoswords, and how much are they? And if I find that neither of those two are acceptable I'll grab a dojo pro and call it a day. Thanks in advance guys!

I personally haven't heard much against sinoswords that isn't what you will run into with any vendor. And I know that I have heard good things on their quality and how custom they are willing to go.. Some users have reported even havign them match hamons from ninhontos, or as close as can be achieved.
I also know the RDP is a great sword.

With Sinoswords, it's been a mixed bag. I have heard some say that as long as you keep on them and don't just give your order and wait, then the end product can be quite nice. I have also heard of members getting something they didn't ask for at all.
The Kuramono is having moving pains, so communications can be few and far between. The biggest problem seem to lay with their sayas. I have seen a couple members here complain of garbage sayas, and that the sword has been drop-shipped to them from China and not taken first to Canada to be checked by quality control, leading to some not great pieces getting through. Also, components that are of lesser quality than advertised sometimes make it onto some of the swords. Long wait times seem to abound, as well. However, all of that being said, a Kuramono in good shape is a sword to behold. Beautiful, tough blade.
Ronin is great. Haven't heard anything bad about the Dojo Pro.

I have a Ronin Dojo Pro #006. I like it; you'll be getting your money's worth for that blade. As for Sinosword? I ordered one of their katana in 2009, and wrote a review of it on the old board: sbgswordforum.proboards.com/inde ... 195&page=1 --Edward

Thank you for your replies everyone, they are much appreciated. So all in all, the blades themselves are very good? As an update on the status of my orders, I have gotten word from Pam of proswords today, and that makes me happy because I was originally planning on purchasing from them in the first place. The email was in my spam folder even though I had sent them an email, so I'll need to check on that when I get time.

The blades look great. The swords tend to run a little blade-heavy, but they are meant to be medium/heavy target cutters, so that's to be expected.

Yes. They just don't always respond. I have read that they are having difficulties with their webpage providers, or something like that, and they don't always get their messages. Sometimes it just takes a while. If you are really serious about getting one, you'll just have to keep at it.
