Sorry, I am not inclined towards European style blades so I don't know much about them. I love to talk katanas though, so any questions you have go ahead and shoot my way. If I don't know I'll try to find out, or at least point you towards someone who does.

from what i hear, CS has a mixed reputation. some items they have are gems, some suck. I'd look for a recent review of that blade and go from there.

if you want the best in the sub $200 range I'd suggest the hanwei/tinker bastard. windlass has a few good ones in that price range too. most anything else sub $200 will be disappointing. the only peeves I had with the h/t were a sloppy handle wrap and the blade tip was too thin and easily bent. they come pretty dull too but are the best after they're sharpened. valiant armory is probably your better investment above $200.

A katana for $80 and the tsuka follows the shape of the sword, is properly waisted, and has tight, alternating ito that doesn't look like nylon shoestring? Now I've seen everything...
Great review sir!

You sure that you didn't get a cheaper Musashi sword? This one is from the same line as the Bamboo and they all have real hamons.

Yeah I was surprised when I saw the no bo-hi. They also have shirasaya with a solid blade mono tempered. Might make one hell of a beater if you mounted it. Only like 50$ on SNA
