Hi Guys,
Been a long time reader, first time poster - what a great site and a great place for information, but I still feel like I dont know anything.... my finger has been floating over the "buy" button so many times, and all I have been doing is stare at the damn online Shopping cart lol. I just dont want Buyers Regret
I've been an Anime fan for a very long time, and I recently received a Last Samurai replica sword (stainless steel) as a gift. AND I purchased some stock standard Kill bill swords for my Dad and my Brother for Decoration. I have been impressed with how some of these Display swords are designed to be unique. Japanese Katanas are awesome.
Anyway, I was trawling through the internet and saw this.... "The Sword of the Samurai" www.globalgear.com.au/weapons/swords/anime-and-gaming/bleach-ichigo-kurosakis-wooden-katana-68-inch
This is a Katana from one of my favorite Anime's. Anyway, my question is, I've got only Stainless Steel Katanas and I've done enough reading to know that they are only for display (I accidentally nicked my Last Samurai sword whilst cleaning the Kisake when I first unpacked it) I want to upgrade to a more "fucntional" sword for Demonstrations (video in my backyard) The sword on this website says its "Battle ready" and Im not sure if that means the sword has been heat treated. Knowing what people have been saying about Global Gear, I want to make sure GG isnt witholding information about this item. I know its not a GG item, but theres not enough info for me to know what Im getting into.
Also, I was thinking of getting this item too: www.globalgear.com.au/weapons/swords/g-505-golden-crane-folded-steel-katana
Does anyone know anything about this Katana? I like the design, and its more of a wallhanger, but It is a GG Katana and not many people have had good experiences with them.
So this is my shopping list - I just want a nice eye catching collection one day and I think these two, plus the one I own will have a nice look in my home.
OR.... I can get a nice display AND fuctional sword and get this: www.globalgear.com.au/weapons/g-919v2-culture-spring-steel-katana
But I havent seen a good review about it - I dont want to get the Chikara cause I dont like the Version 2 and all that Suede. Its going to be impossible to clean and doesnt look.... clean cause suede doesnt cut cleanly, looks like its wrapped in old carpet.
So its two display swords (with the Anime one being relatively more fuctional but too scared to use a 1045 CArbon steel blade that I dont know if its been heat treated) and the G-505 being fold steel and no info about what on earth its made of (but looks fantastic imo)
OR
Get the G919V2 Culture Spring Steel KAtana.
What other Katana's would people recomend that would have nice "culture" or "golden crane" like style but also fuctional at the $300-$400 price Range.... I was also looking at the Hanwei Practicals, but there are so many differnt kinds and the Tsubas (hand guard?) on them are just plain boring lol.
Sorry for all the Babbling - any thoughts and recomendations though?
