Yes, it's mainly a xiphos knockoff. If it's a BudK I wouldn't touch it functionality wise, though, not without thoroughly checking it out...

It's based on - or rips off - the Windlass Steelcrafts "Classic Hoplite" (which I own and like, despite the fantasy design) rather than anything historical. It certainly isn't anything like a xiphos, apart from being short and two-edged, or any sword ever used in Rome for that matter...
