Well, I was 11 when I started...13 now. I do Kobudo and Ken Sai Kan karate...just find a dojo. You have to have interest to join in.
Welcome to the forum, notkansai!

If you join a dojo you will soon make friends and meet mentors that will encourage you. You will also benefit from the dojo experience because it will give your training "structure" and routine; making it easier to fall back on, and harder to skip out on.

Immerse your self in your goal, get obsessed. Keep a magazine by the crapper, read before bed. Get on the forums. Look at photos and videos of what you want to achieve. Once it permeates your thoughts you'll make it a reality. The way will present its self.
When I get obsessed with something I can't rest till I see it come to fruition. Get obsessed!

I don't personally like dojos but if you like them they can be an excellent way to learn, find something that interests you. Where are your interests mostly, in regards to martial arts?

If you need to go on some random forum and ask people you dont know for motivation just to get your ass off the couch, your not going to be able to go to a dojo day after day and get your ass kicked by some asian dude without quitting. My advice? Play football. It will get you more active. Play O-Line or something, they need big (or fat ) kids. Then you will be ready to go through rigorous training.

Rugby. Football is for girly men. Rugby is where the REAL action is.
Don't listen to Luke, he's just a girly man.
(Or real football by which I mean soccer. That'd do.)

Iv'e seen highlights of some of the hardest rugby hits. While i will admit that it is a very cool sport, the contact simply cannot relate to football. Because you are wearing pads, contact is much harder and less held back. Also, you have contact occuring on all areas of the field, not just on the scrum and ball-carrier.

My first option is i would go to the gym and work out every day, my 2nd option is to not care and eat some icecream and play videogames for an average of 8 hrs. a day. Now that's the life

I got some motivation for you! If you do not find a dojo within the next week, I won't give you the antidote!! Heh, but seriously, just start slow. Read on the internet, then get a book, and get a job or something to pay for dojo expenses. But, if you are too lazy for that, you won't get the antidote!! lol
