Today I got my first real sword. Nothing fancy, just one of those cheap $59.99 Musashi katanas from Trueswords.com. I had been looking into it and found that the best/cheapest way to practice cutting is on filled water bottles and it was going good for a while until I got a bad cut and it kinda just knocked the bottle away instead of cutting it. Upon inspection of the blade I found slight discoloration where I had hit the bottle and maybe a little bit of a bend. I was just wondering if I should be worried about this or if I am just paranoid because this is my first sword and all. I have absolutely no idea how much abuse these swords can take. Just needed to know if I should sharpen it or something, or just ignore it for now. i.imgur.com/b50z2.jpgNot sure if you can make anything out, but here is the blade.

If it has a bend, you can just put it over your knee and push to straighten it out. Just make sure you have a good hold on it so it doesn't twist into your leg. I wouldn't cut any thing too heavy, but it can likely handle milk cartons and the such. Make sure that you wipe it off and oil it after every cutting session.
