Hey guys. I thought maybe someone here could help me. I would like to repair my wind and thunder fuchi and kashira. The Gold colored Tomoe look good but the black around it has come off over time. I bought these from someone else and wanted to repair a daisho set I have. ANybody have any experience with re-painting these? Would would you use? Many thanks! Tray Crocker

I'd contact forum member frankthebunny. He has a site called www.cottontailcustoms.com also. He is pretty good at this kind of stuff.

you could try model paint- the kind used for lead figurines, available at hobby stores and those D&D style warring game stores. Or touch up auto paint sold at an auto supply store. Look for something that bonds well with metal. You will likely have to take the old paint of first though, which means using a stripper, or sanding.

It would be easier to just strip the whole f/k and repaint from scratch, including the gold; leafing pens aren't too expensive and look pretty decent. Trying to fix little spots will just be an headache.
