Just giving a quick few teaster images of this tanto that I recently purchased from Rick Barrett. I don't remember the exact specs given by Rick on his site, and he's taken down the posting he had with said specs in it. That said, I'll make sure to bust out the ruler/camera when it arrives. It's made from W2 steel, and yes, that is a hamon that you see, it's a DH blade. Here's what Rick had to say regarding the yoroi-doshi blade geometry: "What makes a yoroi doshi is the proper proportions to be able to pierce armor. That applies to not only thickness but also appropriate amount of taper. If I tapered it too much and brought it down to a scalpel thin edge it would not do well as there is no edge reinforcement." -Rick Barrett The yoroi-doshi translates to roughly, armor piercer. Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usI had Rick leave the top edge false, thereby keeping it legal to open carry here in Oregon. Oregon says no "daggers", which means double edged blades are a no no. Currently the blade is off to Lance Parrish of Southpaw Leatherworks who is making a custom sheath for it. Stay tuned in the next week or two and I'll have lots more pics up.

I'd been wondering what that knife in your avatar was. Didn't look like much in 100 pixels, but uh...well, now.

Very nice blade man. The blade shape and the hamon, with that grip .... so, so, so sexy. Too sexy actually. I'll have to go change my pants now....
... Aaaaaah much better. Be careful with those new pics, pants are a chore to clean up ...

Ok, so the long wait has finally come to pass. I had Rick send my tanto straight to Lance Parrish of Southpaw Leatherworks for a custom sheath and it finally arrived about a week or so ago, and I finally got around to taking some shots for you guys. Enjoy: Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usOpposite side of knife/sheath (ignore the oxidation on the mune, I just cleaned it all off. Mother's Mag saves the day!): Uploaded with ImageShack.usLittle bro holding it for me: Uploaded with ImageShack.usHere's a few carry options for the sheath I had made: Right hip, edge down Uploaded with ImageShack.usSmall of the back, edge down Uploaded with ImageShack.usLeft front of the hip, traditional tanto carry style, edge up Uploaded with ImageShack.usAnd I actually picked up this little beauty at the same time from Rick, it's a simple, working kiridashi in damascus steel. It came from Rick with a kydex sheath with 3 holes. I couldn't get any kind of easy carry option that way, so I bought this little sheath that's normally for folders with a belt loop. The kydex sheath fits in it perfectly like a glove with no play, so it's a nice set-up. I added a larger paracord lanyard to the end for slipping your hand in than it came with. I found that since it's a smaller knife, it makes me feel better holding it with my hand through the paracord.: Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usAnd the pair together: Uploaded with ImageShack.us
