Hey Adam, I know what a bottle is. And I'm pretty sure about the meaning of "giri." But what's that "watter" thing? Something they sell in California? Sounds expensive...

It's like normal water, but with twice as much 't' in it.
I pity the foo...

rofl to adam and shootermike ;D
Adam, does it pack as much of a punch as shooter's infamous "sword-shattering" water bottle of doom?

Let's just say that with this stuff around, things like Jolt Energy Drink, Red Bull, and Moutain Dew aren't very popular.

In Toyoyama ryu all your cuts are from standing aren't they mate ? I have been reading up a bit lately. Nice grip, no overswing .Your step was also in time with your cut, as you can see. Very nice ! ;D

Thank you for your compliments! You should see my instructor...
I set up a milk jug behind him and told him to do Yohonmei, which is the 4th cutting kata, which is targeted against an opponent behind you. You draw the sword and immediately pivot around and perform ko-kesa giri(which means 'little downward diagonal cut) and then Migi-Kesa Giri to finish him off. it was Gorgeous...the 'chop' sound of cutting milkjug, followed by the water spilling out. I wish I had gotten that one on video.
And yes, all Toyama Ryu stuff is from standing. It was codified as a system to effectively teach Japanese Officers of WWII the most important aspects of swordsmanship in a relatively simple system. Since you don't really sit in seiza on the battlefield, all those techniques were left out fo the system.
