well hello just one question about tsuka's i just bought my musashi a couple weeks ago, and ive played around a little with some backyard cutting. well the problem is i finally decided to take it apart and inspect it, my tsuka was cracked and split in 2 different places.\ made me really think i could have hurt someone. i was wondering if the cheness tsuka would fit and if anyone maybe has used different tsuka for the same model blade?

i would also like, just for anyone thinking of buying this model, when i fisrt got it i was very impressed with how tight everything fit but when i took it apart i found that everything was glued and i dont know about the rayskin but it had been cut and pieced in at one point with what looks like a totally different might even be fake piece of plastic. is it bad to have the ito glued on, i mean i understand that it helps it fit better and tighter but it just seemed no good to me. and also should the rayskin be glued?

This is a low cost production blade there will be minor issues with the fittings. However I must say the ray skin is real on this model and the glue on the edge and spine sides of the tsuka is normal for a production sword. If I remember correctly ray skin should be glued down. Will report back with videos. EDIT Ok back with video this is how it's done check the comments section of the video for even more info.

Maybe contact the vendor and tell them you got a cracked tsuka. Depending on who the vendor is, they may offer you a replacement sword. If they do, ask if they can disassemble the new one and check for cracks.
KoA will perform this service when you buy a sword from them, but I don't know about other vendors. Only way to find out is to ask...
Good luck!

If all else fails, some wood glue, a vice, patience and some electrical tape on the tang or something to make the fit tighter (if it needs to be) My bamboo tsuka cracked too, probably because I took it apart a bit recklessly. Where did you order it from?

i ordered from trueswords.com and i took mine apart quite recklessly to so that might have had some to do with it also, i would just use some crazy glue and put it back together but im to afraid to swing it and have it embedded into someones chest i know its putting alot of stress on the mekugi.
