I'm currently living in the US, and I have been looking to purchase some knives overseas from Finland (lamnia.fi to be more exact). However, I've been browsing and cannot seem to find any clues to how customs and duties are here. Does US Customs tend to bother with taxes and duties on importing knives and such, or do they just waive them through no charge? I've heard conflicting stories so it is a bit confusing, and I've also heard horror stories of how trying to simply find a dealer in the same country selling the product tends to result in higher expenses than importing. Anyone who could give a step by step process to how their importing of knives and swords went or advice in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

I have purchase some swords from Czech, England, Ireland and one from Fable Blades from "Down Under" and did not pay anything other than the quoted sword price and shipping. No customs or taxes of any kind.
All my mailed is processed by the USPS as my address is a USA one (Army Base).
