 Does anyone own the Patton sword by windlass? Looked at all 4 pages of this section and didn't see anything. Is it a copy of the British 1908? If you were going to buy one today which would you get [Patton or British]?

From what I've read..Patton's sword was largely inspired from the British P' 08. Seeing as they were both developed at the very end of period of 'traditional' cavary, they never really got the chance to be used on a large scale. The British DID get some very limited war time use. I doubt if the Patton sword was ever used in real combat ?? If I was getting one..I'd go for the British, only because I'm Australian, and our Light Horse troops were based on British. Anyone from USA would prob go the Patton way.

Reviews are hear in the old board: sbgswordforum.proboards.com/inde ... e=1#251809 sbgswordforum.proboards.com/inde ... e=1#277683 These swords are kindred in concept, but independent in development. The Brit M1908 is an exclusive thruster with no edge. The US M1913 is intended as a pure thruster, however it is double bladed and quite capable as a cutter. There is currently no easily accesible M1908 replica on the market. The WE is mediocre in scale and hard to find an agent for. The Cold STeel is an India Pattern design NOT British. Which one you want depends on how you wish to use the sword. The M1908 don't cut. Also understand these are 3 lbs weapons you need to train up to. They are hand heavy to accomodate point control. I have a Windlass Patton for sale. I also have an M1908 real one on ebay for $385 ( bargain price but it has a replica scabbard aws it was bought w/o) pm me if interested in any purchasing.

Dear Saxon Lord; ( May I call you Harald ?) I have a Patton that is made up from an original blade and components, with a replacement bell guard from a Windlass ( This is about the only parts on them, along with the scabbard, that are worth anything.) I do not have a scabbard for it, and the blade is something of a 'beater', but it would be nice to practice with, and the temper is still good. If you ( or anyone ) is interested, PM me at paulrward@outdrs.net! . Respectfully; Paul R. Ward
