Thanks, but I really don't want to go shipping katana from america. I just realised another thing too, there's a large chance of damage in transit as well.

For what it's worth SamH, Talon and Northern all make good points- I am by no means an expert on customs for the U.K. and I haven't looked up the exchange rates for USD to BP- so these are all important factors to consider.
Truthfully the Musahi sword mentioned a couple of times is better in many ways- real hamon for example- but don't forget it's differentially hardended so theoretically can bend easier. Personally I would rather have a Musashi than a Masahiro- they look better and are made better. (One ofthe problems with Masahiro is they don't actually make their own swords, they rebrand different blades and source from different places- so you can't be sure what blade you are getting)

True, but Ii stand by the fact that to me, it's easier to get something from the uk without importing it. I know how much better a real hamon etc. are, but I'd rather have a cheaper katana on my doorstep in two days than have a 40% better katana on my doorstep in 4 weeks.

be careful with that feeling, you can end up with a bunch of swords real quick. i almost, though not quite, regret having two H/T's (plus a blank fullered bastard blade on the way - thinking a custom ring hilted project) when i look at the Atrims and Albions i could have for the equivilant money.
then again, i do have a mean armoury going on at the moment.

I completely understand the desire not to have to wait for a sword or any other toy you are wanting. However when you're in a country where the government's attitude is hostile toward such toys you'll either have to wait, pay more, or get screwed - and for that matter it could be any combination of two of the three or all of them at once!
That said its your money and you do what you wish with it. Good luck with the sword and when you get it please do a review so the rest of us will get an idea of how it works for you too.

Well I'm not great at reviewing. and I'm not even completely sure of the sword's maker and real name, but I'll give it a shot. I'll probably order it in the next few days, after I get back from the trip I'm on tomorrow.

You could always do what swordfan does and order so many swords so often that no matter what there's always one on it's way! Dang, I'm jealous of his collection- lol.
I have been waiting a couple of months for 2 sword From Valiant Armoury but the real kicker is one has been ready to ship from the moment I paid, I asked for both to ship together to save on cost, but the wait is killing me!

Ho jez, because I can order 5 hanwei bamboo mat katanas and then pay for shipping! XD I lost my patience the moment I walked into primary school! Still trying to get it back at the moment!
On a more serious note I'll make a review and such after I get the katana, I think it's the best looking sword for that price I've seen so far.

Ah, problem isn't finding the dark sentinel, it's finding the money to buy it!

I'm never going to be one of those guys who says "Save up more and get this", your budget is your budget and it looks like your at least looking at a functional sword there. I think you, like everyone else with their first sword, will have a great time. If, in the future, you do get a Dark Sentinel you'll see another level of quality, but nothing will ever take away from the fun of your first sword. For me the Dark Sentinel WAS my first sword, and I have terrific memories of it and love cutting with it to this day even though I've added a much better sword to my collection. I'm sure you'll love your katana.

Thanks man, I really cannot get the extra £30 I'd need! but at any rate, When I get the money I'll get a better sword enventually. but for now a cheap katana will do, speaking of which - this katana is straight, doesn't that make it a ken or a chokuto?

A ken is double edged I think, so I guess this would be more likea chokuto... or a ninjato if that was even a real sword- ha!

But it came unsharpened..... *cries* however I think an accusharp would do the trick

Umm don't do that an accusharp will eat your blade.

skip the accusharp and give the blade a good edge.
If you do use the accusharp, and I do not recommend it, then work very slowly, evenly, in a single long pass across the edge with no interruptions, and use no extra pressure (at least not until you know what you are doing). Count you passes and do an even number on each side.
Be prepared that if you make a mistake you will kill the edge and take a ton of steel off making it hard(er) to fix.
