Boartusk - Fantasy Design

So I've been knocking about the idea of commissioning a sword someday that I would be able to hand down to my descendants. My family name basically means "the strength or courage of a wild boar". Our coat of arms features three boar's heads, and it's a symbol I would like to preserve and pass down to my children someday.
My idea was to design a sword that incorporates this boar head design, while remaining a functional weapon that will last for years. Now, I'm no artist, so these sketches are more doodles than designs, but I figure this is probably the best place on Earth to post these and get some tips and pointers to refine this dream, and someday make it possible. So here goes.
(Again, please excuse the crudeness of these doodles)

I know the blade is cartoonishly huge and broad, and the guard needs a lot of work. The pommel is borrowed from the Sword of Isildur UC replica, and would likely be modified in some way. The basic idea, if you can't see it, is that the center of the guard is the snout, the quillions - the tusks, and the inward curves in the blade would be the eyes, giving the appearance of a boar's head. Any constructive criticism is welcome, I'm willing to make a lot of changes to get to a functional weapon. These are more just to get my ideas on paper so I can look at them. I'm currently looking into design software that might help supplement my lack of artistic ability.
