Well it is of that style.. but given the ornamentation and where you found it my first guess would be a decorative tourist piece. May not even be steel, may be some alloy. Any markings, or evidence of casting marks on the blade? Is the blade even sharpened?
Either way, it's nice - just may not be safe for cutting and only for looking at.

Going from the pics, it looks reasonable to me. Blade appears to be of right sort of iron/steel mix ( for the life of me, I can't recall the correct name for this,,pamir ?? or similar ?? ) It *may* be a 'tourist" piece, but an old one - pre WW2 ??

the rust looks consistent. any better pics of the handle? edit: the handle does look like very elaborately carved bone - very nice I don't see too many kris with decorations running down the blade. I have only found this one: arnawacolections.blogspot.com/20 ... -java.html The one I linked does seem like a tourist/modern piece. Of course, if you take it in to get evaluated and it comes out as one of these: www.liveauctioneers.com/item/3816637It could be worth a bit.
