I am trying to figure the best way to dsiplay my swords with complex hilts. Would the most aesthetic method be mounting something on the wall, using a stand, should the stand be vertical or horizontal? (An example would be the Hanwei Renaissance Side Sword). If anyone has any pictures please post them. Thanks.

I've always found the "best" way to display a complex hilt would be on a table with the sword laying horizontal and the point slightly down. This would allow it to be viewed from all angles. I know that Dave Kelly has posted some pics before, lemme see if I can find some good ones. Ok, it's not a complex hilt, but it shows the method I was talking about: Ah, and here we go. This one is a straight horizontal, but it's still shows off the hilt much better then a wall mount in my opinion:

Really partial to these 16 slot, double sided stand up mounts. Scabbards to the rear and 8 sword display ports forwards

The other option is to use really long nails if you want to vertically display it. You want them to be long enough that you can hang the sword perfectly vertical and not leaning into the wall.

I use the Japanese style floor stands (8 & 16 slot) to display all my swords. Works well and I just rotate the swords every so often for a different look. I put one of the 8 slot ones on a bookcase for the good stuff.
