I've decided that I want a mace. Right now, it's a toss up between Windlass and Ritter Steel. What I REALLY want is a mace with a handle long enough for me to fit both hands on comfortably and get a good, hard swing in with. Any takers? Must be under $150.

I agree with Tsafa - you really can't go wrong with the Windlass mace. Have you considered a Hanwei?

All the Windlass maces are shorter and only fit one hand. MRL used to have a footman's hammer that was two handed, but I think it's gone now. You might want to consider buying a mace head and making a shaft, or lengthening a shaft of an existing mace, like the Arms and Armour Iberian mace. www.armor.com/pole147.html\ The only thing I can think of that's two handed and mace like under $150 is the godendag. It's down the page a bit. www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/Pole_Weapons_and_Spears.html

I'm pretty sure they're single handed. For one, they're only 24" long in total. I mean, obviously you could get two hand on them, but their striking capabilities and reach would be severely limited.
There are some two-handed war hammers out there, but most are quite a bit more then $150. This particular niche is somewhat lacking of good reproductions in this price range, because impact weapons aren't as "elegant" as swords are.
Which is unfortunate for me, since I like them.

I made a mace once. If you make your own mace, get a solid steel handle. Like an inch in diameter.

If I go with Windlass, I'll be getting the German mace. If I go with Ritter Steel, I'll probably get the four-flanged (It kind of reminds me of Sauron's ![:P](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ). The Ritter Steel ones are also longer. Where can I purchase just a head to mount on a handle? I don't think I've seen that before.

The german mace is one handed. I don't know about the ritter steel one. As for remounting a mace head, I don't know where you can buy them.
If you wanted to do that, you might want to buy a mace with a wooden shaft and lengthen it.

I don't think 2 handed maces are all that common. Maybe you could track down a cold steel mace they are discontinued but there might be one around somewhere it had a long handle that could be easily replace...sorry best I can come up with.

A war hammer is also on my list, never fear. I'll probably get that from Windlass; I'm drifting more and more towards Ritter for this mace. I may even try to get ahold of my old metal shop teacher, see if he can whip something up ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) .

Every time I see the thread heading I do a double take. It likes like "Bastard Mice".

LOL. I wonder if the Windlass maces are "whippy"? ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
