Hello I was just wondering how much you can use on a Hanwie Katana. I am Going to get a Captains Gunto and I am not sure just how much I need to polish it and such.
Thanks!

Even though it is called a polishing paste, Metal Glo is slightly abrasive and you probably don't want to use it unless you have to. You probably won't need to polish the blade, just clean it unless you are planning on cutting with it. Even then, you may not need to use it.
Remember it took apprentice smiths twice as long to be considered ready to polish a blade than to forge one. That's why I try to avoid polishing the blade unless it needs it.
However, if you do decide to use it, just rub it gently on the blade going with the grain pattern. Don't just rub it in circles, that can end up putting scratches on the blade.
If you just want to shine the blade up a bit, I would use Mother's Mag. Its a polished used for auto detailing and is far less abrasive than Metal Glo.

All true and I agree...just throw one more caution out there about the Mother's Mag ....it is a very strong substance so be sure to completely remove it from components it is applied to...especially brass....I use an alcohol swab and then a lightly oiled clothe. It good stuff, no force required, just quick light motion...no circle, either.
Good luck.
