Interesting piece. If you click on his feedback and look at his past items sold you will see he has some rather unique designs for sale.

These are the real deal, too. Valiant Trading (no relation to Valiant Armoury) is supposed to put out really outstanding pieces; well tempered, nicely made, and extremely functional/durable. There are some reviews here: outdoors-magazine.com/s_topic.php?id_rubrique=21

Not real fond of the blade that started this, but out of curiosity I set Google to find out more about this Vailiant Trading Co. All I can say is...wow...that's some gorgeous, simply amazing stuff. And reasonably priced, too. I may have to take the dive on one of these...not sure which yet. ...I have been on their site now for the last two hours, and cannot leave until I've commited to purchase one of them. But I'm torn. Do I get: www.valiantco.com/java/GolokHornSX.JPG for $75 www.valiantco.com/sumatra/KukuMacanDamS.JPG for $175, or the non-"damascus" model, whose image link is broken, for $140 www.valiantco.com/sumatra2.html Practically anything on this page... www.valiantco.com/world/BosnianDamFS.JPG for $235 www.valiantco.com/world/KopisDam.JPG for $360 www.valiantco.com/world/KukriMiniFS.JPG for $70 www.valiantco.com/hybrid/CampBoloS.JPG for $135 or the slightly-more-intricate "damascus" for $200 www.valiantco.com/hybrid/CampPersian.JPG for $150 (that hand is kind of creepy, though) www.valiantco.com/hybrid/Camp.JPG for $170 or last, but certainly not least, www.valiantco.com/hybrid/CampD.JPG for $260? Yes, I am ready, willing, and able to shell out the money for any of these pieces. Yes, they will spend most of their time on my shelf, as most are far over the legal carry limit here in Virginia, and I wouldn't dare take them out of the house even if they were. No, I do not intend on using them for field tools (who would do such a thing?). HELP ME, SBG! It IS all YOUR fault, after all. So much for saving for that Black Bear Classic...for now... And now I find myself wondering what currency they use. I assume Australian? If so, then this place just got a whole lot cheaper, thus better for me.

Out of those, I like the Bosnian www.valiantco.com/world/BosnianDamFS.JPG and the Damascus Camp www.valiantco.com/hybrid/CampD.JPG. Yes, prices on their main site are in Australian dollars, so they'd be cheaper in USD, but I don't know what their shipping to here is like. I should have put the link to their main site in my first post, but I didn't think of it. I could have saved you some searching. Sorry about that. Anyhow, as I said, the reviews are very positive, and their stuff looks very cool, so I hope you end up getting something from them and reveiwing it here.

Well, we share a top two, it seems.
I looked into their shipping. First Class is pretty reasonable up to about two kilograms, after which EMS starts to be more appealing, if only for faster, trackable shipping.
As for linking initially, don't worry. My Goofle Fu is growing strong.
Might just take the plunge on the Bosnian...

What on earth is going on with me and double posting?
I'll probably be tossing a Bosnian onto ye olde credit card sometime later in the day. Will certainly get back to you all when it arrives. If this goes well, I can see myself adding one of their line to my collection each month. Pending other expenses.
Well, I just completed checkout procedures for the Bosnian. $235 AUS is only $197-198 US, so not a particularly bad deal.
One gripe.
At no point during checkout did I select a shipping method. Perhaps my cell phone's browser configuration caused me to overlook it, but all I was charged was the $235. Guess I'll find out soon.
Off to check my email for the confirmation, though it's growing dangerously close to time to get to work...
Edit for some updates, in case anybody's interested.
Just received a confirmation email fro Valiant Co. themselves, rather than the one sent by PayPal. This one listed shipping options, and their estimated cost.
Problem is, all they have left is white horn. I would much prefer black, but it seems white is actually more expensive, and they're offering to not charge extra. I might spring for it, anyway.
Waiting to hear back on how they want me to convert their AUS shipping costs to the USD my PayPal account insists on using. Sure, the current exchange rate last I checked was some $1 AUS to $0.84 US, but they charged me an additional exchange fee for the knife, I'm wondering how they want to factor that into the shipping.

I figured out that somehow, using my credit card through PayPal to pay them the initial $235 AUS, by creating a new PayPal account for this card, the default currency is now AUS for that account. Fine by me. I sent them the payment for Registered Air Mail, with insurance. Only $30 AUS. (thats something like fifteen cents in real money right lolol) Roughly $24 USD. 10-14 days, insured up to $190-something AUS, I forget exact figure, but at least if something goes horribly wrong, I'm only out...twenty US dollars. Ish. Due to ship out the 15th, so I should have it...crap, I'll be on vacation that week... Also, a few further details, the item they offered me was actually the very last of these knives in stock, from their own personal collection. Sheath is a tad different, but still very nice. Rather than the black horn, it's white, which from the photos they sent me (bonus points for this) looks a tad milky and inconsistent, but I'm chalking this up to lighting and glare, with a touch of not-so-great camera. So basically this one is as close to one-of-a-kind a knife I've ever bought, and I'm getting it for...well, practically nothing. I'm quite content. Now, if I could figure out how to upload the photos they sent me (other than imageshack or other online hosting), I'd do so... Depending on how this turns out, I've already planned my next five purchases. I really don't mean to be derailing this thread, I'll start my own once I get the thing. I'm only posting here in the event that anybody who may, like me, take the initial posting as an opportunity to explore further offerings from these people, and find something they like, and would like to know how dealing with them pans out. The rest of you can feel free to ignore me. I just realized the last three consecutive posts in this topic are all me. I don't usually like to do that, but I prefer it slightly to constantly editing in more as events progress. For one, those who may be interested can be updated to the new postings, versus stumbling back across them later. This can get pretty annoying, so I guess I'm finding a compromise. Good lord, it is now 1am here on the East Coast of the ol' US of A and I will be waking up in five-and-a-half hours. I guess I'll be getting off of this thing, then...

Well, if anybody's still paying attention, my Damascus Bosnian shipped out yesterday via registered air mail, with insurance. Shipping cost me just under $30 AUS, which is just less than $25 USD. I should have it in 10-15 business days. This is unfortunate as I'll be out of town for a week as of the 30th of this month. Go, post, go... Will definitely let you all know what I think of it if I get it. I should get myself some webspace so I can share the picture they sent me... The "white" buffalo horn is growing on me. I'll probably buy another one, in black, when they're back in stock (estimated at some time next year.) Until then, I'm just going to have to rack up what I can of theirs.
