Has anyone had a chance to handle one of the shashka copies from China that seem to have flooded ebay? I'd be interested to see how they stand up in quality and handling characteristics vs. a Windlass or Weaponedge shashka.
Pity that all of the above seem to be restricted to Soviet era markings. I'd love it if an 1881 model copy with Tsarist markings or a Kuban (KKV) or Caucasian style shashka became available. Anyone encounter such a thing?

I wish I had an answer, but I don't. I really wish the Chinese forges wouldn't try and pass them off as genuine, in the first place! Yes, yes, it was buried in mud and mustard for three weeks, and it shows.
I like shashkas, and have wondered from time to time if the Chinese copies would be worthwhile/interesting/fun/functional, but I haven't been willing to pull the metaphorical trigger yet.
