Hello all, sorry if the obvious foreign character of the question
I was looking forward to make some online shopping in the United Kingdom (TheKnightShop.uk) to Portugal, but I don't know if there will be some delay in Portuguese customs. I already purchased the Bristol in the Netherlands with no problems whatsoever--- within the EU, of course...no need for customs, I reckon.
I assume importing goods from the UK is the same? No?

yeah, you shouldn't have any problems, customs may still take a peek at it but you wont have any trouble (as long as what you're buying is legal in portugal)

I don't know about UK to other EU countries but I have done it the other way round (EU countries to the UK) and items have come straight throuh with no delay in customs. My understanding is that if goods are moving round in the EU you only have to pay tax in the country of origin, so it comes straight through customs. Things only get stopped by customs if they are coming from outside of the EU, in which case you have to pay import duty.

Wow, another countryman! Boas RobrtLand! Tudo bem?
Usually, (always in my experience) we can get anything from inside the EU into Portugal, as long as you legally purchase the item in its home country.
I've ordered swords and other "weird" items from all over the EU (UK included) and they've always made it here. No customs involved or anything, just normal package delivery like it came from Portugal itself.
Getting things from other countries USA, China, etc, can get really tricky though. To get, lets say a katana from the USA, not only must it have proper papers describing the item and overall cost (shipping included), as you must schedule with PSP for a screening before the katana arrives in Portugal, (and this usually costs 100€ or more), and you must have a class F weapon license. And then they'll pin a ton of taxes on you. So, ask for help from someone in a nicer EU country if you're looking to buy anything from outside the EU.
