Just received a new book from Amazon, "Ancient Chinese Weapons, A Martial Artists Guide" by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming. Anybody know this book? It's pretty cool. It is basically a catalog of weapon types with a few notes on their use. It has a short chapter on development of weapons in China. It lists tons of cool things I'd never heard of before. Has lots of line drawings. The variety of Chinese weapons is pretty amazing. Not a book for serious academics but if you want to know what a Double Flying Claw or Moon Tooth Sting is this book may be for you.

Yes, a nice little booklet for non-academics. It is not always 100% correct, lacks reliable sources and quotes, but a good starting point for MA enthusiasts. But if you're into such stuff, you need to learn classical Chinese anyway, in order to do some real research. But in general, such books, also when written by Chinese laymen, with 100s of wonderful pics, tend to be not reliable in many aspects. So ...
