Hello all, been peeking in from time to time whenever afforded it. Anyway, I noticed somebody on SBG mention steel crossbow prods (srry I've forgotten who(?)) I've had the same interest for a while now. I'm thinking 5160 would do. If I could not order some from someone with a proper curvature, I was thinking to simply mount them (2 pieces) on an angled bracket each side of the bow . I would like two seperate halves steel limbs with strength that a crank (hand-winch) will be needed to lock the trigger onto the string and then ratchet the entire mechanism (with trigger) rearward into firing position. Like an old siege weapon, except portable and shoulder/ bipod fired. Well I have these bed rails and most of the design for using them as the frame (bolted together like a "T") Just daydreaming about getting started, But Like I mentioned still no overview on the best steel limb construction or technique(s). Thanks in advance! Darn! I'm out of time for now, check back soon!

First for steel prods check out New World Arbalest www.crossbows.net/If your looking for something larger here's some candy: i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn46 ... tajpeg.jpg The ballista and the catapult are my brother's. I have some other pics on another computer, I'll see if I can find and add them later.

I did have a crossbow when I was younger that had a one piece made from a leaf spring off a car - can't vouch for the safety of such steel in that use, but it seemed to work well..
