So, as some of y'all might know, I blew out my achilles tendon a few weeks ago. Went in for a follow-up this morning, and the doc says I'm healing up nicely; 2 more weeks in a cast, and then I can trade in the crutches for a walking-brace. While it'll be nice to be back on two legs instead of three, I'll still have to spend a few days re-learning how to walk, and then a couple months in rehab. That might mean a cane. And since I'm nothing if not a loyal sword-boy, I thought why not make it a sword-cane? I noticed that Kult has three of em in stock; one from Cold Steel and two from Hanwei: www.kultofathena.com/swordcanes.asp. Anyone have any experience with these boys? Can I get a witness? I'm liking that puppy-dog-head number, myself.

I wouldn't really recommend them since most sword canes aren't meant to support any kind of weight; they're also illegal (to carry) just about everywhere since they're concealed weapons. However, just on aesthetics, if I had to pick, I'd go with the Hanwei Bird Dog; it just looks so much nicer and classier than either of the Cold Steel offerings.

Vincent's right. They're considered concealed deadly weapons just about everywhere and some places explicitly outlaw them just like switchblades. But if you're going to buy one, get the first one on the list with the pistol grip or crook. You don't want to be putting your weight on a pommel top for very long.

That's right. You couldn't carry it anywhere you like for there is a corresponding rules and laws how to handle with that weapon.
In the other hand, buying it should focus on how you handle it with care. Thus mean that you checked whether the handle fits exactly on your hand and does it stays fit within your grip.
