Hi, I recieved my Raptor Nambokucho this morning. Whilst I was inspecting it I realised that the first 5 inches of the blade are not sharpened. I was suprised by this. It's not just dull, it is totally blunt. The rest of the blade is sharp like I expected. I take it this isn't normal? :?

In fact, this is quite normal with almost all swords. Since only the first one third of the blade should actually be used for the majority of the cuts, there is really no point in sharpening it all the way towards the habaki. And congratz on your Raptor, I have one as well and it's quite the beast

Haha, brilliant! Thank you. I already love this sword, really didn't want to send it back. You have set my mind at rest.

That's interesting. I always figured the dull edge near the habaki was a Hanwei peculiarity but I was wrong! Good info! +1
