Hey everybody, I just got a quick question. Just got a new katana, which I cannot properly identify, and it's got one loose fitting. Now I know that loose fittings tend to be frowned upon due to safety issues and other things, but I was just wondering if a loose kashira is anything to be concerned about. All the other fittings are nice and tight, and the ito wrap is very well done as well. So...I think I already asked my question....
Is a loose kashira something to worry about?

A slight bit. Over time it can loosen up your ito wrap.
super glue it back in place unless you are planning on doing a customization anytime soon.

In some cases, you can slide in a metal or wood shim to tighten up the kashira fit. It worked on one of my kats. The problem was, one of the pieces of the copper I was shimming with got loose and rattled around inside the kashira. So I stuffed it with a piece of black cloth just to silence it.

Ok. Thanks guys. I think I'll try super-gluing a shim in there.
It looks like the kashira wasn't fitted to the tsuka or the tsuka wasn't fitted to the kashira. Either way, your replies have been most helpful.

Turns out, I didn't need the shim. Super-glue worked like a charm. Thanks for the replies!
