Understand my reasoning now? I hope I have made myself more clear. Very much so; and in principle I agree with you. The only real difference between a democracy and an autocracy is the rights afforded or denied the citizens. Either can be a benevolent government; either can be completely abhorrent. Insofar as everyone here has a voice and is encouraged to participate, this is a forum and adheres to democratic principles. In the case of any individual's "right" to come here and say whatever he or she pleases without regard to the stated forum rules or the demands of good etiquette: I maintain that this forum is privately held and participation is at the will and behest of the owners. In other words, and in my eyes, I see this forum as no different from the forum at Athens or the forum in Rome: Everyone is welcome to speak, but you must follow the rules of the forum or be ejected. The SBG forum is run by the magistrate (Paul) and is managed by the Interlocutor (Sam), and order must be maintained. We are allowed to protest the actions of those persons, and we are allowed to question the validity of their decisions, but in the end they ARE the authority. Guess I had more to say about this after all. But then again, so did you. I hope my position is also more clear

Dan, glad to hear that our position is the same then; because your staunch initial opposition to my "Democracy" comment had me wondering about you, there for a second. I now see that we apparently agree upon the analogy between this Forum and a democracy, in the context that I first stated said likeness. (i.e. our voice can affect change for the better, so let's use that voice.) I was a little confused as to why you immediately opposed my analogy, but it is now clear that you were basing your stance from a different, more antagonistic context: (i.e. "we are in control, so we are free to do what we want without inhibition.) If you read my first comment again, I hope you'll see that I was totally referencing the former above context, and did not even hint at the latter.

In all fairness you must admit that far too many people actually equate democracy with anarchy and justify any action (or no action in certain cases) by self-righteously squalling about "democracy" and "my rights".
I find it amazing at how rarely anyone jumps up and defends their responsibilities.
I was fairly certain that you and I were in agreement all along. In this case and on this forum we have the privilege of voicing our opinions for the purpose of sharing true information, opinions good and bad, and to develop comaraderie among ourselves.
It is our responsibility to try and improve our community, moreso than any rights any may think they have. But we all must follow the rules.

Precisely! You just struck the nail on the head. If I'm not mistaken, you speak of the "it's a free country" syndrome, right?
I was absolutely trying to encourage the enactment of our "democratic" responsibilities (well put, Dan) on this thread, so a consensus could be reached, and a change made for the better if need be. This is also what should happen if there seems to be some kind of unexpected contingency in a regular thread. Rarely is there any need to "lock, change, or delete" a thread; by a moderator or by anybody else.
I believe that this is exactly what did happen here, and that it turned out exactly how it should have; thanks to the forumites who brought up the issue and voiced their opinions, and thanks to Sam for regarding that voice in a constructive manner.
Let's do the same on a regualr basis, and there should be no necessity for deletion or alteration of anything.
And thanks to Paul for making all of this possible in the first place, of course!

I am getting really sick of this insult slinging that is going on here lately. I have been a member of this forum for a long time and this is the worst I have ever seen this. This is not once but twice I have had to voice my irritation with this garbage that keeps cropping up.
Sword/Ramm: Please just grow up, I didn't have any problem with either of you until this crap started between you. For a person who claims to be 26 you are acting like a bloody child and I am so sick of this crap ruining the atmosphere of this forum. If you two can't get along don't read each others posts and when you feel the need to voice your opinion, if it isn't edifying to other members and/or more of this kindergarten crapola then just don't bother.
That is all I have to say on this matter

Sam, why do you feel the need to: a. Call rammstein a butthead. b. Say he is acting like a "little baby" and shall be treated as such. c. Blame him for your imposition of rules. - Own what you do, don't blame someone else. d. Edit other people posts. Oh no, spot quiz. I hate multiple-choice........ah, a. Did I pass Oh look, don't pick on Ramm he is just a kid. You guys know that sometimes kids say stupid things that they later regret. Personally, I blame the parents ;D.

Last time I checked I've yet to throw an insult recently - both in the spats with Sam and sword. The latter seems to enjoy attacking me at any interval, go look at lukebailey's thread on his sword designs. Would you like me to start ? (BTW, just for whoever actually cares, I gave a formal apology to Sam via PM and he accepted it, so I think we can assume there is no longer any bad blood here.) Just thought I should defend myself a bit before I get accused of throwing insults. I may be insulting, I don't deny that, but I'm not going around calling people names or wishing they got banned. And chop, for the last time, talk about my parents once more and I'll see to it you're in an sbg hell with paul ;D. I told you, I have a rocky relationship with them and they are nothing like me. Please curb it because you're dead wrong. BW, you and I are on the same side of the argument against Swordboy. I don't think I've done anything yet to the level you said, but if so, feel free to tell me.

Ok mate, only if you'll promise to think from others points-of-view before you post sometimes dude . Have you ever heard the saying, "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"? Some topics its only natural that someone else will inevitably know more about those particular things than yourself ( If that makes sense). There is no loss of face mate.
