This is just a brief review with no pictures, but I hope it will prove helpful.
The blade seems solid on all three examples I've handled, but doesn't seem to have the "medium niku" as advertised. I haven't noticed any significant difference in niku between the three Take examples I've handled and the two Light Cutter swords I own, though the blade is slightly thicker both ha to mune and shinogi to shinogi.
All three examples felt well-balanced and powerful- these blades do have a definite "presence."
All three examples I received had cracked tsuka. This could be from the tightness of the handle and/or the difference in humidity between California and Mississippi.
The execution of the kissaki leaves something to be desired. It does not have the look or feel of a true o-kissaki- but that is very apparent in the pictures. What you see is what you get.
The habaki on all three examples was poorly fitted. It had flats on the top edge side that make returning the sword to its scabbard require more attention to alignment to insert the sword past the habaki.
The overall feel of the fittings is what one might expect of a sword in this price range- the blade is certainly of a higher quality than the fittings.
The tsuka-ito on all three examples was loose and had a feel like shoelace compared with my Light Cutters.
Overall, the blade would probably be best as a project blade, bought with the intent of replacing at least a tsuka and re-wrap, with the understanding that you are getting a fairly thickly dimensioned blade with poor kissaki geometry and slight niku.
I returned three different examples of the Take for cracked handles and, on the final one, requested a refund instead of an exchange.
I have nothing against Swordnarmory- in fact I really like their customer service. I wish them all the best and will continue to consider buying from them in the future.
