Only one ATM. I'll add more later, cause I do have more. I just felt like sharing this one that I just did. Just a random idea that popped up in my head earlier. Guard is made out of square mild steel stock twisted to get a spiral effect with the bars forge welded to metal disks on either side of the handle, inside is lined with leather for comfort and slight added protection, and the grip is wood core wrapped in leather. Peened together with a peen block. Didn't really think about dimensions but I'd say it's probably like a 5 inch handle with a 20 inch blade? Somewhere thereabouts. ------------------------------------------------- Came up with another one while I was at the laundromat. Keep in mind I'm not that great at drawing animals, so the pommel is supposed to be a realistic looking cat head. The scale on the close up of the guard is kind of off too. I was thinking it'd be about a 37" blade with an 8-9 inch handle. Hexagonal cross section, with a ricasso at the flared shoulders. Cord wrapped leather grip, and I'd want some kind of phrase or quote engraved on the grip ring. However the only cat one I can think of is "Curiosity killed the cat." which just doesn't work. Color wise, Dark brown leather, patina'd(sp?) brass furniture(kind of like Dragonspear), and blade finish again like Dragonspear.

Looks like a basket-hilted xiphos; very nice. I think the Spartans would have been proud.

I think the Spartans would have liked basket-hilts, for the "metal fist" effect.

Thanks guys. when I stop being lazy I'll see if I can find some of my other designs to post. I end up drawing a lot at work and forgetting to bring them home, so I have a ton that are lost to the winds. Lol.

Hey! This is your boss from work. What are you doing drawing swords when you're supposed to be working! :x Just kidding. Seriously I like the design. I think it would be very effective for close contact fighting. That twisted steel would do a lot of damage if you hit someone in the head with the hilt. Nice work.

Hey, I came up with this one at home. Lol
Thanks. TBH, I didn't think much about how it could be effectively used, more about making something kind of unique but still historically plausible. Meaning that if they had wanted to, a smith 300-400 years ago COULD have made it, even if they wouldn't have.

Hmm. Cat heads always make me think of Solomon Kane... which is not a bad thing. Yeah, the rendition is kinda cartoonish, but I can see what you're going for, and quite like the concept. The cat-eared ecusson is a nice touch.
