Are iaito blades, by Bugei, Aoi Budogu, & other high priced makers, made of various zinc/aluminum alloys very durable? They look pretty, especially some of the Japanese made ones, but I would not think they could stand up to the rigors of dojo (iaido, etc) training. How about stainless steel blades? To date I have only used unsharpened carbon steel blades because I don't "trust" the alloys. Can anyone relate their positive & negative experience(s)?

You won't have any trouble with durability as long as you're not hitting things with them. I've had two Japanese made alloy iaito (very nice feel and built well) and a cheaper Chinese made alloy iaito (different alloy, feels like a crowbar and shoddy fittings).
