I would like to hear any feedback/info/evals anyone has about Munetoshi katanas, esp. the T10s offered by SwordNArmory. I have a collection of Hanwei, Cheness, & others, but have not yet acquired a Munetoshi. Please let me know about your experience(s) with this maker & your opinions. Thanx!

I recently got one of their Take T10 katanas. It had a cracked tsuka, and with no hassle they paid to have it sent back and I'm waiting for the replacement. As far as the katana itself, I liked it a lot. It is very sharp. It wasn't a light sized blade but handled like one. The hamon was somewhat faint, but was clearly visible. The kissaki was well defined and to my surprise was fairly well polished. The samegawa, while not the highest quality, was larger and better done than what was one my $300 Kaze or $175 Ronin Dojo Budget. The ito is pretty poor, but was tight and well wrapped. The sageo is the same shoe-lacy material the ito was made of. However, I was able to get a nice silk ito($2.50 a foot) and new sageo($1.48 a foot) for very cheap from them. For a $128 katana, it's phenomenal. When I get the replacement, I'll post a review.

OK guys...thanx for the info re: Munetoshi K's! Sounds pretty much like all other production K's...some +'s & -'s...overall quality is hit-or-miss, depending on luck of the delivery choice of any particular model blade & cost. Good to know SnA has great customer service & they stand behind what they sell. Appreciate the feedback.

Yeah same story here as Jordan. Take T10 katana came in, cracked tsuka. SnA paid all shipping using a RMA label. Good service.
Also just FYI the Take T10 katana is a bit on the unbalanced/heavy side. Also a quick test against my Practical Plus Katana produced a nick on the T10 take, with no damage on the PPK. So in all likeliness the T10 steel is not a 1095 alternative or was not heat treated to a 58 HRC as advertised.

Thanx Crimsoned...sounds like I'll take a pass on Munetoshi T10's & stick to Bugei, Hanwei, SBG customs, Cheness, all of which have been 100%+ OK for me.
